The Town of Upper Marlboro is the county seat of Prince George's County and a small place on its own, centered on the courthouse along the Western Branch of the Patuxent River. Most people with an Upper Marlboro address live in the larger communities around it, including Marlton, Marlboro Meadows and the Beech Tree golf course community.
The housing in those areas covers several decades. Marlton and Marlboro Meadows have split levels, ranch houses and colonials from the 1970s and 1980s, many on their original kitchens and bathrooms. Beech Tree was built much more recently, with larger single family homes where the work is more often a finished basement or an upgrade of builder grade finishes. Rural lots to the south and east bring older farmhouses into the mix.
