Germantown is an unincorporated part of Montgomery County that was planned as a set of villages, including Churchill Village, Clopper's Mill, Gunners Lake and Kingsview. Most of its homes went up between the 1970s and the 2000s, and townhouse communities make up a large share of the housing next to the single family streets.
That range of build years shapes the work. A 1970s townhome in Churchill Village usually has a smaller kitchen and a basement that was left partly finished, while a 2000s single family house in Kingsview tends to have builder grade cabinets and an open lower level waiting to be finished. Seneca Creek State Park runs along the edge of the area, and many streets back onto wooded stream valleys.
