Silver Spring's downtown still runs on that Art Deco energy from the old theater and the Discovery Building, but step a few blocks out into East Silver Spring or Woodside Park and you find bungalows and colonials going back to the 1920s and 1930s. Plaster walls, original hardwood, and cramped bathrooms are the norm, not the exception.
Near the Takoma Park line and down through Long Branch, a lot of the housing stock is rowhouses and older duplexes where floors have taken decades of wear. Refinishing or replacing that flooring, and updating a bathroom that still has 1940s tile, is the most common call we get out here. Painting jobs in this part of the county also tend to involve prepping old plaster rather than drywall, which changes how the work gets done.
