Downtown Frederick, around Carroll Creek and Market Street, is full of brick rowhouses and homes going back to the 19th century, some tied to the town's Civil War history. Plaster walls, original trim, and narrow floor plans are the norm downtown, and painting or flooring work has to respect that older construction rather than treat it like a modern build.
Outside the historic core, Frederick has grown fast with newer subdivisions that look a lot more like standard suburban construction, drywall, engineered flooring, open floor plans. We end up doing both kinds of work here, careful trim and plaster prep downtown, and straightforward flooring and paint jobs in the newer neighborhoods ringing the city.
